First is Greater Palm Springs Pride Weekend, where I’ll be appearing with Katherine Forrest & Michael Nava at Q Trading Post next Friday (Nov. 2) at 6:30 p.m. for reading & signing. The Q will have advance copies of Playing With Fuego available (just in case anyone even notices me sitting between those two). The Q Trading Post is located at 606 E. Sunny Dunes Drive in Palm Springs.
The second event is our annual Fall Membership Drive for the Lambda Literary Foundation. I say “our” because I sit on the Board of Trustees and believe very much in the mission of the LLF:
The Lambda Literary Foundation nurtures, celebrates, and preserves LGBT literature through programs that honor excellence, promote visibility and encourage development of emerging writers.
We do this primarily through four vehicles: the Lambda Literary Awards, the Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBT Voices, the LGBT Writers in the Schools program, and our website, the Lambda Literary Review. Please help us support these programs with a tax-deductible membership gift to the Foundation.
And here’s where Playing With Fuego comes back in: Follow THIS LINK to the donation page, enter your gift amount, and click all the necessary tabs to enter the words “KG’s drawing” into the Gift Memo box. That gets you entered into a drawing for an autographed copy of Playing With Fuego, and I’ll pay for shipping. Every $25 gets you one entry, so $100 gets you four. For every $500 raised for “KG’s drawing,” I’ll add another book, so let’s hope there are lots of winners.
Thanks as always for stepping up to help. Your dollars not only help us reach out to the LGBT community, they help the LGBT community reach in to the rest of us. Imagine being that 17-year-old who feels all alone and suddenly lights up when a lesbian voice steps into her classroom and tells her where to find our stories.
