I challenged the cover artists at Bella Books this time: “I need a cover for a book about two women who meet during a worldwide competition to be the first team to colonize Mars. Oh, and it’s set entirely in Hawaii.”
It’s kind of early to start chattering about this book, since it isn’t due out until May, and I still have two very recent releases right over there ———>. But I figure if I’m going to show you the cover, I should share the blurb too:
It’s the boldest conquest of our time—the colonization of Mars.
Of the thousands who clamored for a one-way ticket to the Red Planet, only a fraction remain in the running. Now they’re converging on Hawaii’s Big Island for a nail-biting competition to be the first to launch.
Mila Todorov has prepared for this moment all her young life. With her revolutionary propulsion design already built into the Mars vessel, she likes her chances—especially if she can team with her all-time idol, Major Jancey Beaumont, a former NASA astronaut whose last space mission made her a worldwide hero.
Jancey is desperate for a return to space, but the margin for error is razor-thin. Can she afford to gamble her destiny on a woman as distracting as Mila?

I’m off tomorrow for the annual Xena convention in Burbank. I’ll have some books for sale (LOW, Low, low prices on some of the older ones, possibly including a freebie if you buy one of the new ones). Signed books make special gifts!!!! And, of course, I’m happy to sign any of yours you choose to wag along. Hope to see you all there. Yes, all of you.
It’s a beautiful cover, KG. Have a wonderful time at the con!
Red star, decidedly space type helmet, iconically Hawaiian sunset…yep, nailed it!
Thanks, Dr. Mast! This book will be getting to Boone about the same time I do in May. In the meantime, it’s 86 here in the CA desert. I noticed that your best bet for double digits tomorrow is -10.
