Limited seating, little space in the overhead bin. Early boarding matters a lot on a trip to Mars, a journey of 140 million miles. But the real scramble for seating happens well before liftoff, when the Tenacity Project winnows its 40,000 applicants down to two. That’s the premise of my upcoming book, T-Minus Two, due out in May from Bella Books.
But you don’t have to wait until May. You can get an early copy, autographed and mailed to you wherever you are. All I ask is your support for a cause that’s near and dear to my heart — Lambda Literary.
As you may know, I’m on the board of this organization, and I’m tasked with raising funds to support its programs — the Lammys, the Emerging Writers Retreat, Writers in the Schools, and our fabulous website, Lambda Literary Review. Lambda Literary is a nonprofit organization that depends solely on revenues from grants, sponsorships, and most important, donations from those who share our vital mission:
Lambda Literary believes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer literature is fundamental to the preservation of our culture, and that LGBTQ lives are affirmed when our stories are written, published and read.
You guys are so, so generous, and I’m always humbled when you step up and answer my calls. I’ll be honest — it feels unseemly sometimes, like I’m taking advantage of your generosity and enjoyment of my books. But I’ve learned from my deep involvement with Lambda Literary that it’s very difficult to raise money without asking for it. So I’m asking for it — a $100 (or higher) tax-deductible gift — to Lambda Literary. Make your gift by mail or online, and mention “KG’s Book” in the memo line. I’ll send out a copy of T-Minus Two as soon as I receive them from the printer, probably by the first week in May.
And I’ll be more grateful, more humbled, than you can imagine.
